Learn To Fly

Whether you’re new to hang gliding or have already logged many hours in the air, Sky Adventures offers the ideal platform to learn to fly, or improve your current flying skills.

The highest sunshine hours in New Zealand, coupled with light winds and great inland flying ensure Nelson is the perfect setting to learn to fly a hang-glider. Training covers both hands on flying and ground instruction.

Hang gliding is one of the safest forms of recreational aviation, but the nature of the sport and the potential risk of injury, demands proper, safe instruction from a qualified instructor as essential.

We have NZHGPA certified instructors, and use the latest training methods designed to teach all the skills needed for safe solo flight.

WE OFFER:
• Dragonfly tow planes to teach aero-towing
• Gentle hills for early flight training
• An ideal ridge for learning hill launching and soaring techniques

7-10 Day Novice Hang Gliding Course (Hang 2)
Cost $1950

This course is designed to teach you all the skills needed for safe solo flight, and to be able to fly without the oversight of an instructor. You will have completed the NZHGPA requirements for a Novice Rating (Hang 2). Included in the course costs are instructional books, manuals, logs, all aero-tows, gear rentals, and NZHGPA Certification Test costs. The time it takes to get your rating will depend on your individual learning rate and confidence level. At Sky Adventures we allow as much time as it takes to ensure you are a safe and confident pilot. So if it takes longer we don’t charge any extra.
